Teenaa koutou and welcome to the Pipiri-June 2025 edition of the Waikato Regional Theatre Construction Update.
Work on the Theatre itself is now focused on its interior - with over 200 people on site daily, it is a hive of activity and the inside spaces are rapidly coming to life.
‘Public Realm’ works commence this month, with work due to occur in both lower Embassy Park and Sapper Moore-Jones Place to ready these external spaces for the completion of the Theatre.
Progress on site
Highlights from the last month include the following.
- Completion of another blade wall - Hinuera stone cladding is now done.
- Extensive progress on the interior fit-out, including wall linings, ceilings and painting.
- Stage engineering works continue within the Fly Tower.
- ‘Back of house’ spaces nearing completion.
- Reveal of the final section of the Victoria St heritage façade.
- Absolute final interior concrete pour, for the remaining small section of stalls floor.
Significant events coming up
The following progress is expected to occur in the next month
- Installation of some of the restored heritage elements, such as the Queen’s staircase.
- Continued interior fit-out will progress into second fix of services and floor coverings throughout.
- Commencement of the ‘Public Realm’ works.

- Structure Completed
- Envelope Completed
- Construction Completion Due for Completion 2025
- Fit out and Commissioning Due for Completion 2025.
